Training dogs. Training people. Having a ridiculous amount of fun along the way.

Preston Trick Dogs was created from a simple belief: training your dog should be fun, rewarding and something you genuinely want to do together.
Whether you're raising a puppy, working on everyday skills, teaching tricks or aiming for the competition ring, my goal is to help you build an awesome relationship with your dog while learning skills that actually work in real life.

💜 RELATIONSHIP FIRST
Training isn't just about getting your dog to do what you ask. It's about learning to communicate, understand each other and enjoy working together.
🎮 TRAINING SHOULD BE FUN
I use games, play, reinforcement and creativity to make learning something your dog genuinely wants to be part of.
🧠 EVERY DOG IS AN INDIVIDUAL
There isn't one magic training method that works perfectly for every dog. We adapt the training to the dog in front of us.
🏆 FROM FAMILY PETS TO COMPETITION DOGS
The same foundations can take you in all sorts of directions — from a brilliant family dog to tricks, dog sports and competitive performance.
📚 ALWAYS LEARNING
Dog training never stands still. I believe in continuing my own education and keeping up with developments in the world of dog training.
🐾 REAL DOGS. REAL LIFE.
The dogs I live and train with aren't perfect robots. They're individuals with their own quirks, challenges and personalities — just like yours.

I'm Dawn, the person behind Preston Trick Dogs — and I have a slightly ridiculous number of dogs. 😂
I've been training dogs and their people for more than 10 years, and what started as a passion for teaching dogs has grown into a business built around one thing I absolutely love:
Helping people discover just how much they can do with their dogs.
I love the whole journey — from teaching a puppy its first behaviour, to helping someone discover tricks for the first time, to working with experienced handlers who want to compete at the highest level.
I don't believe training should be about trying to make every dog fit the same mould. I want you to understand your dog, discover what makes them tick and find the things you both love doing together.
I share my home with a rather ridiculous collection of dogs — each with their own personalities, abilities, quirks and challenges.
I've trained dogs who compete, dogs who perform tricks, dogs who have earned titles, rescue dogs, reactive dogs and dogs who have simply needed help navigating everyday life.
Living and training with such a variety of dogs has taught me something really important:
there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all dog.
Good training starts with understanding the individual dog in front of you.

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with dogs in all sorts of settings — from everyday pet training to dog sports, demonstrations, photography, television and competition.
I've trained and competed in Heelwork to Music and Freestyle, worked with trick dogs, demonstrated at major events and helped clients develop their own skills as trainers and competitors.
I've also been lucky enough to learn from some incredible trainers from around the world — and I love passing that knowledge on.

TRAINER EDUCATION
Continued professional development

Training should build a relationship, not just a repertoire of behaviours.
I want dogs to enjoy learning.
I want people to understand what they're doing and why they're doing it.
I want training to be something you can take away from the Training Barn and use in everyday life.
And most importantly, I want you and your dog to have fun doing it.
Because when training becomes something you both love, that's when the magic happens. 💜
